Biographical/Historical Note Lauren Grant, a native of Highland Park, IL, began taking classes at an early age with Marilyn Ruekberg and Irina Makkai before attending the Chicago City Ballet School. Grant earned an MFA in Dance from Montclair State University and a BFA in Dance from New York University’s Tisch School of Arts. She has danced with the Mark Morris Dance Group (MMDG) since 1996. She also sets Morris’ works and teaches ballet and modern dance internationally. Grant was honored with a New York Dance and Performance “Bessie” Award for her decades of outstanding performance with MMDG. In addition to her experience as a performer and educator, Grant is a senior contributing writer for The Dance Enthusiast and her work has also been published in Dance Education in Practice, Ballet Review, Dance Magazine, and InfiniteBody.
