Summary Contains 3 letters written by Francis Webber Sever to his aunt, Catherine (Kate) Elliott Sever regarding his trip to the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Also includes one letter written to Francis Sever from Jane Elliott Sever O'Reilly dated February 24, 1910 and photographs (reproductions) of Francis Sever and Catherine Sever. Francis Webber Sever traveled via train from Massachusetts to Chicago through Canada; stopping for a few days in Montreal. Francis gives a favorable description of Montreal, providing details of several churches and masses he attended as well as the Botanic Gardens of McGill College and Mount Royal. While in Chicago Francis lodged at the University of Chicago and attends the Fair regularly. He describes many aspects and sights of the Fair including the buildings he visits and what he saw along the Midway. Outside of the Fair, Francis visits Lincoln Park and "the houses of Chicago's aristocracy" and paints of negative view of the city and its inhabitants. 
Biographical/Historical Note Francis Webber Sever (1868-1941) was a resident of Cambridge, Massachusetts and graduate of Harvard (class of 1891).
