User-Contributed Transcription all of which tend to strengthen it and then it flows gentlyand silently onward still continuing to become more beneficialas it is expanded by truths which bear the same resemblanceto it that the new streams did to the large waters. How joyfuldoes it make those around to see the eye of the youth sparklingwith intellectual fire as some new thought steals into the mind and is treasured up as as choice gem for they knowit will be like good seed placed in fertile soil whichin time will bring forth abundance of fruits. As the mind progresses in its onward course it becomes stronger andmore useful, if not only sheds its influence upon those of a kindrednature but its scope becomes more extended and mankind ingeneral are thereby benefitted. But it stops not here, all the wondrous mysteries of science are gradually upon itsmental vision, each fact tending not only to fit it forfuture usefulness but to develop it for its own happiness. Whether lone, weary and responding in Africas wildernessor Indias sands or Polar snows man is cheered by the light which wisdom sheds into his darkened abode.Speak not of its monotony for it leaps on with joyous, exhaustless within the seeds of virtue and knowledge3
