in groups and so is it necessary for the growth and perfection of the Amaranthine flower, Virtue. It is impossible for it to become as beautiful when reared in solitude for selfishness, that bone of human joy would be constantly hindering it in its onward progress. But society seems to be exactly adapted to the nourishment and perfection of Virtue; selfishness cannot there be indulged. The love and regard felt for those around whether they be relatives, friends or acquaintances inspires feelings of purity and holiness, and the stronger these feelings of astonishment become the greater in the desire felt to be worthy of the love and esteem of those by whom we are surrounded. In society friendships are formed true and lasting. The purest and holiest findings of the soul are called out. Haughty pride lies not reign in of such hearts but hope, love and all that is gentle are found there in abundance. When sorrows depress there are kindred hearts to sympathize with you and when bright prophets elate there are friends who will be joyful with you and when you act in a praiseworthy manner deserved commendation will meet your ears and not unmeaning flattery but if wrong is done there are among the true friends those who will chide and how welcome is the rebuke received. All the virtues may be easily cherished in society. By showing an interest in others by writing yourself with them and acknowledging yourself as belonging to the land at once going for you a feeling of kindness a brotherly love and you will intuitively undergo many trials resist strong temptations in order to be worthy of the love lavished upon you.
