Description 1 Block : wood ; 80 x 60 mm.; Sixteenth-century wood printing block of the Descent from the Cross. The block, possibly fruitwood, was created in Antwerp, Belgium, possibly between 1520 and 1539, but almost definitely between 1500 and 1550. The monograms IHS [Jesus] and MA [Maria], both with abbreviation symbols above, appear in opposite corners.
