Summary
The collection contains 36 sketches done mostly in pencil along with a few pen and watercolor drawings. Bollaert's sketches primarily depict local scenes and the geology of eastern Texas. They include the Alamo Church, the President's house in Austin, Mission San José y San Miguel de Aguayo, Galveston's waterfront, Comanche arms, and Bollaert's residence in Montgomery, Texas.
Biographical/Historical Note
English writer, geographer, and ethnologist, William Bollaert journeyed to the Republic of Texas in 1842.
