User-Contributed Transcription Mrs. May Walden 420 West Bell street Avon Park, Fla. 8: a.m. 52 degrees 12-16-55 - Darling Tafern, Tom came home yest a.m. with a cactus pod on his flank and 2 thorns between his shoulders. Extracted all quickly and he seemed none the worse. I put the pod in the stove with newspaper and burned it up. Am in the dining room with the heater beside me and small fire in living room. Heated kitchen with small heater while I ate bkfst, so things are o.k. The Renfros have lately put in gas to heat their rooms and I find their expense has been much more than mine and they shut off the heat in much the same way I do. Your letter with Maxine's enclosed came Tuesday. Have ans'd her letter and wrote her I'll be very glad to have her come when you do. Complimented her letter and urged her to write often. I certainly look forward
