User-Contributed Transcription 3 Mrs. May Walden 420 West Bell Street Avon Park, Fla. Strange how much better I feel in my working clothes than I do in girdle and earrings! I'm reading Thoreau's Walden and enjoying it so much more than teas and chatter. I'm ever mindful of Oliver Wendall Homes description of a reception - Gabble, Gobble, Git - all of which I did. Had a nice little Thank you letter from Mrs. Lawhon- Mr. Adams land lady in Ft. Lauderdale - thanking me for an amaryllis bulb I sent to her by him. She says --- "From all the nice, kindly things he has told me about you I wish you lived near me so I could know you better. Again many thanks. I hope to meet you some day." The double red amaryllis are in bloom now Will give you a bulb to take home the next time you come. Do you recollect the photo of Mother's that she had in Highlands? You should have one to perpetuate her memory. They are so easily grown - Am giving several bulbs away - They are
