User-Contributed Transcription Mrs. May Walden 420 West Bell Street, Box 853 Avon Park, Fla. 1:45 p.m. 94 degrees June 9, 1943 Tafern Dearie, tell me what is a zook suit? [zoot?] Heard Baukhagr discuss the situation in Los Angeles, and he said the disturbance is more a psychological one than anything else - a clash between races where one race that previously had nothing and is now well paid (Mexican and Negroes) is bullying the white race (the service men) which resents it. There was an article in Time not long ago telling about the minors in L.A. being arrested on criminal charges, and most of them were Mexicans. I got your letter yesterday and enjoyed all the answers. And thanks a lot for the films they came o.k. but am afraid they will melt now and the $2.00. I used one that you sent previously for a Santa Fe necktie for Marvin's birthday. Am confident that neither tie nor letter reached him in time for I put off sending - which I shouldn't have done. It's so easy to put off Baby Charlie sits on my radio and laughs at me all the time!
