User-Contributed Transcription under the house (nothing but sand under the house) put another knob where the wire comes up to the phone nailed the phone to the clapboards, and there you are!  It takes a little more work to put in the electric light wires as they must use some kind of insulators, but I fancy it won't take long. Now that I have the telephone it seems just as if I could call you any time, and that I ought to.  Mother is up as usual now, but limps a good deal. She washes the dishes once in a while, waters her plants and sews or reads, but hasn't attempted to walk further than the little red hen's nest which is in a brush pile out side the yard.  My mileage ticket expires in ten days. Dont know whether I can get it extended, or exchanged. Went to the station yesterday to see about it but the agent had gone to "the bottling works" to get a kewl (we say cool) drink - be sure you emphasize the kewl - and I couldn't wait. I always have 2 or 3 doz errands to do when I go in, and as a rule I wait until 4:30 or 5 before I go as it is so hot now in the afternoons. It was 89° Sunday and 87° yesterday, but the nights and mornings up to about eleven are delightfully cool.  I was much interested in the movie school classes that you described and I'm sure you could do better than the pupils you watched. I don't think you would have any trouble at all in getting a position if you care to try. Have you thought of doing so?  I have always wanted to visit the Parental School, and am glad that you went. I can see exactly how it is now from your description which is as good as going myself. The John Worthy and the schools of corrections at Geneva for girls and St. Charles for boys are also places I've always wanted to go to and the county jail and the police stations, especially the old ones on Clark Street or word lined out Desplaines -- you ought to see the latter before they are re-built.  We were much interested
