User-Contributed Transcription 4/20 '42 Dear Sister, Your card received this a.m. as I will have to go to Peoria to get rates, and as I have some books to take to the library the 23rd will see two roads about fare, if more than I can afford will wait untill next fall, while there will see about a clock. if I go it will be after May 1st as I will have a few house plants for someone to look after, is malt-o-meal and wheaties on sale there also have you a double boiler, also orange juice to be had. Our cold weather still hangs on, we see Frost almost every a.m. some real heavy. gardens with some things up were damaged some and fruit trees in bloom, the days are real warm and the nights should be warmer. The old Sommer's Hall has been torn down, the ground will be used by the Metamora Garrage to park cars on instead of on the streets. What kind of weather will you have after May 1st. If you have peas or string beans I wish them in milk not as I see them in water and if new potatoes the same and flap jacks, syrup of brown sugar with maple seasoningin it or maple maid a powder put up in 5 cent sacks, and biscuit with honey, if not easy bought I have both baked potatoes, corn bread, whole wheat bread, toast
