Description
Tableau 41 in atlas: Illustrations to Maximilian, Prince of Wied's Travels in the interior of North America. The Stone Walls at the upper entrance to the area of the Missouri channel with La Barge Rock, an unusual rock formation. Bighorn sheep graze along the hills and a white swan swoops over the Missouri River. In 1836 Maximilian commissioned Bodmer to create illustrations to accompany the text of his atlas documenting their travels. These illustrations include 81 plates of aquatints.
