User-Contributed Transcription Dixmon to this place yesterday and having given up the idea of coming to Milo, as I could wish, this fall, concluded to write from here hoping by the time I shall arrive at Brunswick to find a letter from you in answer to this. I expect ow to return the next Monday's boat. My health for the past term, and is now, as good I think as I have enjoyed at any time since I left Michigan, a blessing for which I trust I feel grateful. The spirit of religion continues low in College. I hope the Year to come may not be as has been the one past in this respect. I do hope that another year may not complete its circuit without some hopeful conversions in college. It seems to me that the year past in a spiritual sense as been next to lost with us there, those clouds big with mercies which were scattered though the length & breadth of our land importing b their genial showers a life-giving power to thousands were suffered to pass us almost if not wholly in rain. I can but hope it may not be so in time to come. There are some in college although the number is comparatively small, who I trust, are praying devoted disciples of our blessed Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ. This little band meet regularly twice in a week for prayer and conference; the times of meeting are on saturday evening & Sabbath morning an hour & a half before public worship. They need and I trust in some good degree have, the prayers of Christian friends. How important it is that the influence was and extensive, which will be exerted by those who go out an from year to year from that place of mental training, be a sanctified influence. I sometimes fear that Christians do not feel this subject to be of half the moment it really demands.
