User-Contributed Transcription Foxcroft Aug. 26th 1843Absent Friend I fear I have given you occasion to think I have forgotten my voluntary engagements to write you. Perhaps you have even begun to suspect, my professions of regard dwelt on the lips- but came not near the heart, but my time has been so much occupied in the various domestic affairs of our family, that I have hardly had time to write to my dearest friend. My sister have all been absent this summer, and the work must nessessarily deade? on Mother, and myself. But I doubt not that you are acquainted with the duties of a farmers family, and will excuse me, for so long delaying an answer to your very interesting letter, which was duly received and perused with much pleasure. I was happyto hear of your good health, and that you was so pleasantly situated in your new home , where you appeared to have every thing to make you comfortable and happy. Although I can not say I think as pleasant to teach and attend school (especially if we have a good instructor) Mr. Tash has closed his school and gone to visit his friends. He has engaged a female
