User-Contributed Transcription My girl recently had an attack of appendicitis, at least the doctor pronounced it that. Her sisters helped her with the work here and she seems to be fairly well again, tho last week had the tooth ache - is having the tooth treated. It should have been cared for long ago, but she is not different from many others in neglecting to go to a dentist in time - more's the pity.  I saw little this summer - only the mending. Have been rereading some of Longfellow's & Lowell's poems. I used to wonder why in our grange programs they never used any of those fine poems. So often they would get up & read some jokes, or comical piece. Like the radio - it is hard to find the worthwhile program, there is so much trash.  We have not been to grange for months. Do not like to stay out late at night, tho I miss not seeing the neighbors so often.  We hope to have a short trip yet this fall. But cannot take the southwestern jaunt we had planned. Will be time to fill silos when we finish threshing. My love to your mother when you write. Kind regards to all the family -  Love to yourself   May L.D.
