User-Contributed Transcription such his affliction nearly makes him insane - or hasan effect upon his mind similar to that made at thetime he was disappointed by a lady in Brattleboro - you'llrecollect the circumstances I'm thinking -It is my birthday tomorrow & town meeting day too& we are all going to spend the day at mothers - I believethey are not anticipating so pleasant & agreeable resultsas the last tow meeting - the other party will havethe ascending it is feared - Maria & her children aregoing up too - Mrs. E Stevens will spend the day withRhoda - D. has served his time & got up a goodreport quite surpassing the last year's, we thinkof course, & now a new board of committee will beelected, if the other party have the power -We are invited to Frank [Major's? Maye's? Meyer's?] Wednesday &Mr. & Mrs. Green also - Mariah Stevens & her motherhave come back to live on their old place again &a few talk of giving them a welcome in the shapeof a surprise -Samuel & his wife & children, Chandler & hiswife, Charles & Mary & Jane visited at Uncle Markslast week - they had a nice time - we would liked tohave gone but D. was busy making out the school report& I thought I would not enjoy to go without him so weshall go another time - it is pleasanter visitingthere now they have moved from the old house - theyhave pleasant rooms now &c.Mrs. Young & her 3 daughters visited here last Thursdaywe had a happy time - they came in the morning &staid all day - she told me a great deal aboutEngland that was very interesting - she tells me Miss[written along the left-hand side of the page]Mother says you must not forget to send her confidential note
