Dearest Rose-
Just heard Peter is flying to Paris tomorrow so couldn't resist the opportnity to send you a quick line or so- otherwise God knows when you'd hear from me as our postal strike looks like dragging on & on- - - One consolation- no bills! Although the Income Tax people have been very sneaky and are actually delivering their billet-doux by hand!
Apart from the strikes & the collapse of Rolls Royce & similar jolly items of news, all is well here. I'm taking a few weeks off from Jack- well, more or less, although I'll still be doing some reading for him, seeing him quite often- to do a draft screenplay for Peter, based on a thriller by Simon Raven called "Brother Cain." It's a well-plotted story with some good dialogue & unexpected twists so should be fun to do. I'm only getting a pittance for it at present, but am to have the balance as soon as they sell the subject to a producer or distributor. Jack still hasn't finally settled on a subject- there's one we both
