Note on cover: "Presented [to J.C. Pilling?] by Miss Hattie B. Rand, Hantsport, Nova Scotia, Dec. 12, 1889."  In his Bibliography of the Algonquian languages, Pilling indicates that the ms. was in his possession in 1891. 
Summary Compilation of sentences, short stories, and portions of Scripture in Micmac, translated from English by Rev. Silas T. Rand around 1847. Simple useful sentences are given in Micmac and English on facing pages, as well as a partial conjugation of the verb "to see" (p. 9-10).  Passages of Scripture translated into Micmac between February and March 1847, with the help of Joseph Brooks, a Frenchman who tutored Rand in the Indian language, include Exodus Chpt. 20, Genesis Chpts. 1-3, and John Chpt. 4.
