Description Frontispiece, engraving of a figure of a woman dressed in a nun's habit. This is a portrait of Sor (Sister) Juana Ins de la Cruz. She wears an oval framed painting (escudo) depicting a woman, an angel, and a dove. Sor Juana's right hand holds a quill. She is flanked by allegorical figures holding a caduceus staff, the other figure is holding a shield with a picture of Medusa, they are holding a a laurel wreath above Juana Ins de la Cruz's head. An angel blowing a trumpet hovers above. At the base of the image there are, musical instruments such as harp, lute, mask, compass, books; D. Lucas de Valdes de lineavit.
