Dear Jack:

    Its been a while since we have last written to each other, but I have a special reason for writing, which I will go into shortly.  But first, tell me about how your health is, and that of your wife.  My health isn't bad, really, for a 68-year-old.
    Last night, my wife and I went to the Apollo Theatre on Lincoln Ave., to see the "Banjo Dancer."  This is a one-man performance, where Stephen Wade plays the Banjo very expertly, and also relates stories and anecdotes in a real folksy manner.   He has received rave notices for the excellance [sic] of his performance, having been on for maybe eight months.  Steve is only twenty-seven years old, but has the polish of a much older person.
    One  of the stories he told was about a competition between two professional high-divers.   Each time, they raise the height level from which they dive, and reduce the depth of the water they dive into.  After the conclusion of the story, he mentioned that he read it in a Writers Project publication and that it was written by Jack Conroy, who lives in Moberly, Mo.!  I was so
