User-Contributed Transcription The are getting along pretty well with the road laying down the track at the rate of about 3 miles a week. they have laid some 10 or 12 miles since I have been here
I am now at work on a house at Du Quoin Station building for a boarding house to board the hands while putting up the Depot Buildings at New Du Quoin Station. The Junction at centralia where the great Depots Engine house repair Shop & car Factory &c brick buildings is to be about [[4?]] 6 miles above here on the upper end of Isaac's Division  there will not be much done there till next summer though the brick are contracted for. the building is but little of it done till the track is laid because they can procure the timber so much cheaper by means of the Rail Road  Can transport it from the mill to where they want it. But now I have been making a long story about nothing or what amounts to nothing for it is upon what you care nothing about  bur I don't know as I have any thing in partickular to write about I have wrote you now most every week but get letters from home but seldom  I would ask a thousand one questions if I knew anything about you but the last from you (almost a month ago 15th of January)
