Dear Mr. Conroy,

I am doing a report on the career of my choice and my desire is to be an author. I would not care to be a journalist but would sooner be a novelist, or a writer of short stories. And as I needed an interview for the report, I am writing in hope that you will supplement the information that would be gained from that interview. The questions I am asking need not be answered or may be answered as you see fit.
Are there any special abilities required, and if so, how many and what are they?
Are there any particular number of years required for preparation? Education, etc. And if education or prpration other than college is required, what is the approximate cost? And also are there scholarships available to help with financing training?
Do you have to be able to socialize with other people?
Does it require special talent that cannot be developed if you don't have it to begin with?
Does writing meet your needs immediately, or is it necessary to work at something else at the beginning of
