User-Contributed Transcription Petersham July 21, 1851Dearest AbbyDid you think I had forgotten to notice your kind letter? No so. It was impossible for me to answer it last week. I was very happy to hear from you. Especially that you were happier then you were. I hope you continue to like. I thank you very much for your kind letter it came just in time. Chandler and Zebiah came to see me Sunday, arrived here a little after we went to meeting. I was very sorry we had gone. However I guess they enjoyed them selves as well alone. It is a joke upon Mr. Howe. Is'nt it sis. What were her motives think you. (Who knows but she may be our sister sometime) Keep dark now. She seemed very happy & I never saw her more so. Declared she enjoyed herself exceedingly. Aunt Mary was good as usual and played the hostess extremely well
