User-Contributed Transcription Now he is in the woods I suppose. I hope he is notso ambitious this spring as he was last. Samuel hasgot home too. Oh I guess you have nice times. I wouldlove to be with you to night right well. It seems agessince I came back. Oh! you did not know I was going to stay at week or so longer! Well fate waved haveso. My unlucky "pedibus" kept me there.I came back in the evening train; got along muchbetter than I expected. For some distance my companywas of the gentleman order with two exceptions. And theywere at the other extremity of the car. So I followedthe example of my companions and yielded to "Nature'ssweet restorer". At Greenfield two very pretty ladiescame in, and then I felt more at home.I arrived here at 8 o'clock. Annie was very muchsurprised to see me. "Why my dear roommate," said she, andwas so affectionate, that she seemed to be dearer thanever. She told me I was advertised in the hall twice. And that day Miss Whitman told them she hadheard from me. Notwithstanding the fatigue of myjourney, I thought I would attend the recess meeting. And no sooner than I appeared, I heard the nameof "Miss Reed", from every lip. After the meeting Sundayshakes-of-the-hand, kisses, how-d'ye-dos &c &c were exchangedand my teacher congratulated me on my return, expressedvarious good wishes &c &c. and on my way to my room I met otherreturning and each one bestowed a nod and smile, andsometimes a kiss. All seemed anxious to bid me welcome.
