I hope you understand — as I suppose you do — why I was put out that night Jesse Blue called collect. I was foolish and gullible 7 or 8 years back and took practical jokes with better grace than now. Since then I've been through too much and am on the bitter side. Because I had [[?]]e laugh and was a good sport I took things — at my expense. But I thought all that was a thing of the past and the "boys" had grown up. That's why I thought that call, after so many years, was serious, not more drunken horseplay. I think Jesse took advantage of my good nature (former?). I'd rather spend two or three bucks to send a package to Europe than to amuse him and his buddies. Don't think me a bad sport, and I don't involve you in this wild tirade. Just explaining how I sounded that night. O.K.? Good friends?
