Dear Jack,
You are quite mistaken when you assume
that I am not interested in "kid stuff". Did you ever
see a Red who wasn't interested in kids?
Years ago I sold many a natural history article to
the boys magazines. You know zoology is one of my
major hobbies. I used to get a good natural history
article; bend, twist, and shape the dam thing around
into half a doz diff. patterns and peddle it to Rod &
Gun, Forest & Stream, Grit, World Wide, and a couple
of kids mags. But I never did any fiction for children.
One day, about 20 yrs. ago, thought I would. Guess
it was no good. So into an old trunk, with a bunch
of other rejected & discarded mss. When I got your
letter I recalled it. Went out to my other house, dug it
up, here it is (enclosed) and you're welcome to it. If
you can use it in any way, O.K., do whatever you want
with it. If worthless, just throw it away, I have
absolutely no use for it. Once I thought I'd concoct a
series of zoological stories for kids, bu its been done
plenty, and rather out of my line.
This is just a quickie. Pardon stationary and
