Captain Jones's brief notes regarding the Indian languages of the Six Nations was recorded about 1800 by an unknown acquaintance. The content of the manuscript includes the names of each tribe followed by its English definition as well as a list of twenty-one common English words translated into Seneca.

Captain Jones, an interpreter for the Six Nations, was captured and later adopted by a party of Seneca Indians in 1779.
