She also told of the sleeping arrangements among the policemen where the day and night squads are obliged to take turns sleeping in the same beds. she said one case she knew of was of an ordinary policeman who was obliged to strip off all his clothing in the basement of his home and don other garments before his wife would let him come upstairs - such was the quantity of vermin that he carried home from the station house beds.
