and last and best of all is a darling little dress from Nora. It is all hand embroidered most exquisitely. The bottom is buttonhole embroidered all the way round and finished off with lace. It is beautifully done as are all the gifts. When I finally got the things all opened and then packed away in a box, it was too late to get the 11 o'clock train and I told Ruth, on leaving to call Max up at the station and tell him I would be delayed. She couldn't get him, however, and when I got off the car I found him in front of the station on the Madison Street curb, anxiously watching every car. He was worried to death for fear something had happened to me and had been standing out in front for a long time. He enjoyed looking at the gifts ever so much, when we got home, but kept saying how glad he was to have me safe and sound and not to have learned that I had a miscarriage on the car or somewhere else.
