Maynard all right this morning.  We go out with Mr. Thomas into the woods towards the bayou after quail.  Maynard & Mr. T going to the lake in the bayou for duck see about 60 but get none.  Return home with 5 quails dress them & Mrs Thomas cooks them & we take dinner & supper together ^ & spend the evening with Mr & Mrs J. & J Dewitt have a very pleasant time. Uncle told John that when he got back to Columbus he would send him some medicine that would bring him out all right. An axe with a porus medicated handle to be used from 2 to 4 hours every day.
