User-Contributed Transcription typed letter  Apdo. 633 / Cuernavaca, Mor. / Mexico                                                                                           5 Nov. 68  Dear good plump jolly falstafian Jocko,   we salute you from the bottoms of our  Bohemian beer glasses, and hope that you're tapering off with Bud or Ballytyne or some other good friend (th best th States can un-jug).                       We just got back from 6 weeks in  USA, therefore we're a bit harrassed & very glad to be absentees from that ridiculous republic (?). We were mostly in the East. Lynn didn't evensee her parents (good for her), and I didn't even see much rest. We had memorable visits with Mark V. Doren and Arthur Miller (whose new THE PRICE is a return to the temper of ALL MY SONS & DEATH OF A SALESLADY). and we saw hordes of other persons, and hope to return next spring in good style.  Lynn got cured of NYC, after Columbia, NYU, New School, Briarcliff, Washington Square, Chumleys, White Horse Tavern, and other dives. BUT we might go back...if needed! I had a couple lectures, & did much literary biz, In fact, I sold an archives to Yale for 25 g's arrow pointing right beside this word without them seeing the lot! They accepted my catalogue (which was labelled 'partial listing & descriptive catalogue') along with the donor's own remarks on the archives, and the whole affair was highly pleasing to every- body, especia ly to Yale.                                         If you'd like to  sell some of your things, especially letters from HLM. Farrell, Algren & Whatever you wish, I'd like to try you at Yale. Texas is definitely out, for you and our ilk: they don't want radicals, liberals, or proletar- ianos ---they'd like good British authors, along with an Eliot and a Dahlberg, provided there's one only of each:  Let me know how you now feel about a partial disposition.    By th way, th NEH is kaput: Congress pulled  the cash out from under em.  So we gotta go Ford or go gugu-gu-gen-heinie.                  written in blue ink Love,                                                  Charlie & Lynn  written in blue ink in left-hand margin We are underlined:  very busy with books & documentary film; I'll probably never get a book on BT for Beacham
