School Year- 1892-3-
Sep. 29. Started from home 12:17 P.M. with Ranusky- ticketed and checked for Washington, D.C. The 4 small boys had all gone to the County Fair, so I did not see them to say Goodby. Uncle Herbert went to Cleveland on same train. Tran was late, and we had just time to find our other train in Cleveland. 1:40 on the Pennsylvania R.R. Took sleeper at Pittsburgh at 8:10 for Washington. Miserable headache. Sent card home from Pittsburgh.
Sep. 30, Friday. Washington about 8 A. M. A beautiful morning. Had baggage re-checked at station, then went to wharf to leave packages & luggage stateroom for tonight. Then Ramsey & I ate breakfast from our lunch boxes and went through the Botanical Gardens to the Capitol. want about there, then to Nat'l. Museum, where we met Miss Moor & Mr. Lade.
Very tired. I went to wharf for my bag, had tea & toast at station & sat there all the afternoon. sent card home. Miss Booth & Lavinia Cornelius came into station while I was there, on their way to Hampton. On the boat I found Miss Johnston. We all had staterooms near together. I had supper on the boat, as our lunch boxes were lost. found John L. Brown, of last year's Hampton class, a waiter in the dining room there.
