User-Contributed Transcription 10:55. Did some Quantitative work - in distinguishing colors. [[??Nessleizing samplex]] of water. Conferred with Elizabeth Eliza on Bible topics. Prayermeeting was led by Miss Caswell - went to see Mrs. Foote - also to get my shoe mended at Mr. Flagg's - The black Surah silk arrived by express.

[In margin, verical:] Dr. A.J. Gordon - Rev. H.L. Hasting's & others - arrested for preaching on the Commons.

Friday May 22. Corrected papers - studied and taught Bible lesson. Went to read to Mrs. Foote - made Bible topics for Tuesday. went to prayermeeting in village - Rec'd. box of wedding cake from Flo. also her cards. Note of acceptance from Mrs. A.G. Morse.

Saturday May 23. Swept and dusted room. NH3 experiments at 9:50 - HNO3 at 10:55. Studied on Quantitative - read papers. Went to Show at Stone Hall in evening with Miss Darling and Solomon John. My pictures arrived from McCormick's this morning - note from Mr. Morse this evening - he came not. Went to see Miss Shafer. Victor Hugo died yesterday - Rain - "The float" did not occur as expected.
