User-Contributed Transcription has been back 2 weeks and we have been very happy together even tho' in the Church there has been much to cause trouble.  I hope and trust that soon our trouble will be over and we the better for them.  We would be glad to hear from you often and of the prosperity of you all there.
How does Net do.
The Kid is now in Oberlin. O
Hart is coming west. We shall rejoice to see him.
Good bye to you
Your Brother John.
I am going to make the kid a dress soon. I suppose he will only wear slips for a while anyway.
With love Carrie
I will add a word to Jack's letter telling you how much we rejoice with you in your new happiness.  The first grandchild in a family is a very great person - as I found out this summer.  Grandpa and grandma Metcalf must be happy over their new dignity. And I am glad Azariah has a boy on which to bestow that beautiful name.  I hope he will thoroughly weigh the responsibility sf such a deed - Lots of love to Annie. Are glad she is doing well. I expect Prof. Martin and Prof. Root are the biggest men in the Faculty now.
Anyway we have a real cute little black and tan dog and he can walk too.
