User-Contributed Transcription This Evening I dropped into the Methodist Church. The fact is I do really like the Methodists, on some accounts. To tell the plain truth about it, I am almost inclined to think sometimes that I ought to have been a Methodist Perhaps it would have made a better man of me and I really believe I should have been valuable as a Methodist. I should have enjoyed their fervor and enthusiasm, and perhaps partaken more of it, and yet, being quicker to feel & think, than to express feelings & thoughts, might have been a pretty good balance to some of the rest. Samuel, do you want to borrow some more money? I ought to have received a hundred or two of the N.H.C. before this time, probably shall soon at any rate, and could lend it to you if you want it. Moreover three hundred and fifty or more dollars of my last year's account, which I left on interest will be due the first of January. There was one time when I almost wished I had the money it on my hand instead of the Note. Though I suppose any thing against any Corporation is perfectly safe in N.H.. All the Stock holders private property being holden. In fact too, Much as they have been pressed for Money the N.H. Central has never had a Note protested.
