Dear Brother Charles
Mayo is dead. I got back from Bangor last Saturday night or rather Sunday morning, found him sick with the Dysentery. The disease proved very malignant and reduced him rapidly, though we did not entirely give up hope until a few hours before he died; which was this (Saturday) morning at 15 minutes before Four oclock.
The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away. He has been comfort and joy to us for which we should be thankful. But the blow is severe The Lord hath taken away the pride
