Dear Brother Charles
I wrote to you I guess the 6th inst. telling of our dear Mayo's death, at 3.45 A. M. the 6th inst. I thought then to write to you again within a few days; but I had not had much time.
When Mayo died Father Putnam was complaining. Monday - a week ago today he was sick with Dysentery. He has not got off his bed yet, though we hope the disease has reached its height, but the Dr.s say he will be long recovering. The next day Mother Putnam was taken with the same disease, and is not able to sit up at all. Monday 8th Little Willie had a diarrhea. Tuesday it was severe, & we called in the Doctor. He called it severe Teething Diarrhea. Other Doctor since says it was Cholera Infantum. He was at once very sick. Thursday morning he was so much reduced we feared he would die at once, but he seemed to revive a little & we thought he was better, until Friday, when he grew worse. I suppose [[that?]] Dropsy of the Brain, or an effusion of blood on the brain commenced
