User-Contributed Transcription Isn't there something in it? Do you not feel a little different atmosphere there & at Bangor or Milo? I do believe it would be good for your father & Mother to be in some different place occasionally. Wouldn't it?I guess I must write you of my doings since I last wrote. I believe I got my sheet full last Sabbath before I told you of the day itself. I did not go down to Du Quoin to Meeting; for Mr. Shepherd preached there: he has been making himself conspicuous of late as an opposer of Calvinism. Had given notice that he would demolish the thing entirely that day: and worse than all had the impudence to give me a special invitation to be present. Now the fact is the man is almost fool, and knows nothing what he is talking about. Of course I remembered the day, "making a note of it " to stay away. And so, I guess did almost every body else except "Aunt Sally", (Mrs. Root) and she going there unknowing deliberately walked out again! Charles & I rode up to the Nine Mile Meeting house, where you & I rode one, Mr. Hagler's, but found no meeting. Peter preaching in Paradise prairie that day. So we rode back again.Monday I staid here in Office with Contractors, Estimates etc. etc. very busy. Tuesday I went down to Big Muddy on Train, and down a peice in 1st Div. hoping to see Mr. Watson, but did not & returned here at night with Hand Car. Wednesday morning I went up to Little Muddy early. Staid there most of the day, & up to Richmond at night. Thursday Morning up to Centralia early, remaining there till 6 Friday night then to Richmond again by 9 P.M. I have to be at Centralia a considerable part of my time nowadays I expect. My health is very good nowadays. The hot weather does not affect me near as much as it did. It came on so suddenly
