User-Contributed Transcription adjoining the same, immediately north of Keyes & Metcalf'svillage of DuQuoin.  It will sometime be alllaid out doubtless  and sold as village lots; andit is also all of it undoubtedly Coal land. The Ashley Coal Mines are one mile due Northof it.  The New "Tetley Coal Mine," the most favorableopening yet made is just across the R.R track onits S.W corner, on land sold by said R.& M for coalmining purposes.  The New Mines to be opened thisspring, and for which I am just locating R.R Trackare just at its S.E corner.  The Frizzell Minevery favorable worked on a small scale for a year past is half a mile S.E  Some coal hasbeen worked all along East & North East of it.In short there is no land promises fairer as coalland than does this.  In this regard it is a greatbargain.  But one year ago or less it was offeredat one half, viz $25.00 per acre.  Three years agoI presume it could have been bought for aboutone quarter, $12.50 per acre.  Five year ago for probably less than half of that.Vancil the Landlord has just today soldout the "DuQuoin House" for $2500.00cost him in all about $1500.00 and he has made lots out of it too.The farm we bought was not the Pyles farmyou remember, that is East of the station. The Widow still owns 40 acres of that & wont sell.the other 40 acres belongs 18 acres to Edmund Lype?
