User-Contributed Transcription Bangor Dec. 30th, 44Dear Folks                   On coming home from my writing school tonight, I found a bundle for me having arrived during the evening, while I was about. It contained the old coat which is certainly very acceptable, though I have got on very tolerably without it, by forming the habit of going in school without any coat at all, which is very comfortable in a warm schoolroom. By considerable shaking & picking I found some pockets in the letters thereof, - not exactly - but, you know. I had got most through reading the letters before I began to suspect that Charles was the bearer of them; & when I did, I at first wondered that he did not stop at the schoolhouse & see me, but on second thoughts, I concluded that Ann was with him & they did not want to stop in the rain. They were rather unlucky in starting at such a time.    I was really gratified to think that I deserve such good letters from home,  & only hope I shall receive my deserts, if they are of such a kind. - I suppose it wont do to complain now however, if I dont receive them.  The coat is very well, rather than I expected, and will do me good service, this winter. I dont know but I shall have to carry it back to Brunswick, which I had determined not to be worth the while. The handkerchief I needed.   The cloak I have not got, & dont intend to this winter,  I can get along with out it pretty comfortably. The thick boots I get on without very comfortably, especially since I have got the old on[left-hand side] Excuse the writing, the girls laugh & talk so much & I am lazy as time
