User-Contributed Transcription A Touch of the SublimeI rise, Mr. President, to argue the causeof the poor man and the rich man, and I believethat before I shall have concluded, you will all allowthat it is a case that does not admit of any argumentIn the first place, Mr P. the rich man declines his emaciatedform on a rich mahogany sofa, cut down, hewn out, madeand manufactured from the tall Cedar of Lebanon, whichgrow as you all know, on the lofty and cloud east symmetry?of the ever memorable mountains of Jehoshaphat  Then, MrP he lifts to his endeavors up the golden china cup, made andmanufactured as you very well know in Chile; Peru andother unknown and uninhabitable parts of the universe,While on the contrary Mr P the poor man declines hisexpectations in a cottage from which he retires to the side of someumbrogous stream there to contemplate the vastconstellation and other fixed and immovable satelliteswho devolve around the celestial axeltree of thismatter acqueous firmament on high.  And then, Mr. P.he calls his wife and the rest of his little childrenaround him and teaches them to perspire toscenes of immortality beyond the grave. The foregoing was found by me in old Newspaperand spoke in school last Wed. as I could find nothingelse.  As I had nothing particular to write hardly, I thoughtI would send it for the peculiar instruction andamusement of brothers Jo et Eliab. And now I do verily declare that, if I havingnothing in the world to say, hardly, can write a wholeletter like this, it is an abominable shame forthat are paddy Joe et Bob, also to write me a letteron a half sheet of paper (not half full neither/ beholdAnd that once a month  What I should so wantto know every thing about every thing.3 sheets every week (Full)I.S.M.
