I then listened attentively while the themes were read; but did not hear the truly excelent piece of I. S. M. or the sweet production of his sister's Muse, nor yet friend Sarahs piece upon 'Order'. On the Friday after the close of the school, there was a Pic Nic at the Academy. There were about 70 present. I was there but did not enjoy myself at all. I certainly do not think there is much pleasure to be enjoyed in such parties at any time; and on that evening the death of a friend and schoolmate, Elizabeth Augusta Edes, made the scene a mournful one to me. I have not heard the particulars of Miss Edes sickness. Her health was not good last spring, and it has continued to decline until last Friday when she sweetly resigned her spirit to the God who gave it. She was, I believe, a true Christian and has gone to that blessed clime "where life is not a breath, where parting is unknown'. I mourn, but not for her. She enjoys the bless company of the redeemed around the throne. There, and in the anticipation of that 'Heavenly Home alone, can true happiness be found. If 'friendship is eternal; if, sometimes there is 'pure, disinterested friendship' formed on earth in the minds of those who are, through the merits of the Redeemer, anticipating a happier home in Heaven may we not hope to meet her again? This is indeed a glorious thought; a theme on which I love to dwell. If I am indeed a true Christian, I love to think of [[meeting?]] many beloved friends in a better world, where
