[drawing of an inverted triangle showing Greek letter societies, with the Delta Kappa Epsilon society at the top, and descending levels: 4. Psi Upsilon; 3. Alpha Delta Phi; 2. N; 1. Chi Psi]
N.B. - N. stands for Neutral or Newcomb.
The diagram takes up considerable space on the page, but I think you will be willing to pardon it - Fales and Stanton have been looking pretty confidently for parts; but they are doomed to disappointment. Stanton bears it very well; but Fales is all down in the mouth, and unless he gets some relief soon there is no knowing what the result will be. You will doubtless be somewhat surprised to hear that Case was thought worthy of a Junior part - To confess the truth, I was surprised at it myself, and yet I have pretty good evidence that he was not the lowest on the list of ten-
I suppose you are doing fine business in the way of teaching, at any rate I hope so. From your letter to my chum I judge that you have quite a profitable school. You ought to have to justify you in staying out at this time of the course - I presume you will be back at the first of the summer term -
I have nothing of interest to communicate with regard to society matters, except that Perkins of the Sophomore class is pledged to join us.
Write soon, and let me know what you think of Orono, of school-keeping &c &c.
Yours sincerely - I. W. Case
