Mr. Neates addup us at St. Andrews New Brunswick If you should make a bargain to go down East and should want to buy a Transit I would reccommend you to call on Phepls & Gurley Troy N.Y. I think they have made great n those that they first got out; the design is wholly dissimilar: they have lately built one for me different from any that they can build before and I consider it north $23- more although make it for their usual price of $100 it has 2 telescopes with one telescope their price is $90.
I think if they adopt in adjusting the way which I reccommend they will have no more trouble about their instruments reversing. I had my plates made thicker then they usually make them which renders them less liable to get sprang.
If you order them to make you an inst I think you will be the best satisfied to have them make it like mine If you should conclude to have but one telescope you want it arranged with but one telescope
The price will be 10$ less
Mr. [[Neals?]] wrote me that they would want to commence operations about the first of may.
If you conclude to go and write me to that effect I will write Mr. Neals that I am not going to accept his proposition as he many expect me
