Wednesday. fair & warm
Lucy & I out weeding in garden. Mrs. Harlow came over to see. Eliab came up with Gertie and a fine carriage and I went with him down town - called for Maria on the way.
We shopped till about noon. Samuel brought us up again. Maria came up after Dinner & spent P.M. & walked home at night. had nice time with her. Eliab has engaged a double seater carriage & two horses to go to Milo & Brownville next week - first pleasant day.
Letter came from Isaac - dated Lewiston Penn. All well so far. description of mountain scenery

A.M. Somewhat tired with yesterday's walking and forest explorations.
Letter to Furber & Metcalf
Making out Plans of the Lands &c.
P.M. with George Barton out to Land. To S.W. Corner
corner again, and over South Line, then down over Burnt land. This land did not burn at all last year in the dry time, but this spring, fire run most all over upper lot on a dry ridge along the centre burning so hard as to kill the Pine trees over 10 or 15 acres. Mostly of the lightest growht, smallish trees. These ought to be cut next winter.
