July 26 1855
Thursday. Milo. Fair - very warm
Charles [[?]] man, Mr Ferris came this morn. much to C's joy. He is haying in earnest now. Hard to get hired help here.
Ironing part of AM. Sewing a little. Out doors some reading old vol. of Harper
Mayo very tired and very indeed dirty at night - doesn't keep as clean as at Brownville. Washed him all over.
Albina went up to Mr Austen's to see about a little girl to come & help her. I fear we will not get much fruit - no prospect of raspberries.
Getting some grasses for Lucy.
Some musquitoes at night. [[?]] Mallin left, and a lamp smoke on the plaster a relic of her wonderous occupation while an inhabitant of this room - and the feats she performed.

Steamer Ocean Queen. Cleaveland to Buffalo
Arrived at Buffalo about 7 A.M.
Went to B[[?]] Depot.
Left Buffalo on N.Y. Central at 8 A.M.
Rainy
All through Central New York much suffering of crops from wet. 7 or 8 days of constant rain and just in harvest too. Both wheat & grass partly cut, and rotting on the ground or growing in the heads. Corn along this line looks very small & backward. In Mohawk Valley &c. can hardly am't to anything
7 P.M. to Albany
Delavan House. Really good house.
