Started just before 7.
About a mile from Town come upon the
Leather Wood Creek, a fine stream forming
over a wide rocky or gravelly bed. Much
Dirca palustris, Wicopy, Leatherwood
in the narrow bottom. Splendid land
about as fine as I ever saw. Crops
excellent, and for grain unrivalled.
Every where among the pretty thick large
trees excellent pasturage.
These lands, I understand are valued
at 25 dolls per acre. Some of wood land
entirely sold lately at 20.00 per acre.
Command these prices while White River
bottom lands only 5 to 10 as unhealthy.
Road between main forks of Leatherwood
Finally leaving the main Brownstown
road, in which I started, cross over
to North Fork of Leatherwood, upon which
10 miles from Bedford find.
