As Usual. Chores, studying and writing. no wood to saw but Chores. School and so forth as usual. No Compositions at all. Next lesson in Virgil is first of the Ecelogues or Bucolics, we have got done with the Aeneid. Cicero next term spose
C.D. Gilmore is going away to       will be he[[re]] no more. He is a very clever fellow [[I]] guess. His Grandmother [[I]] believe was a Metcalf from --- Mass. Bucolics harder than the Aeneid, only 100 lines to[[o]] tired
P.M. Writing &c. Com. did not make out much. O dear!

Rainy South Wind Rose at 4 3/4
Began to rain last eve. rained all night. now most gone
Very powerful South Wind. Very hard rain all day. Snow gone all in a "Great Hurry". Powerful Rain very. Wind all
Commenced the Eclogues on Bucolics of Virgil As Usual
P.M. On account of the Violent Wind the stove smoked so that school was dismissed at recess. Greek lesson recited but in a very humble manner indeed. Very smoky
Eve. Did not make out much of any thing James was at home all evening packing up his things and picking over his papers. Cleared off

Fair. Cold quite. Rose at 6
Chores &c as usual. School as usual &c. Bucolics hard S.C.B., [[?]] cold &c. At school as usual. At home. Writing &c &c
