Milo
Visit to Milo. Monday. Tues. Wed. Thurs. &c [[?]]
Monday, Dec. 9th Tuesday, Dec. 10th I worked in the threshing machine. Pretty busily employed all day both at both. The Threshing machine is a double horse power, belonging to the Livermore's, who find three men and thresh for every tenth bushel. Mr. Joshua Livermore, Mr. David Livermore (or Wm. Frederick), and Samuel Spe[[?] come and work with the machine, besides there, it commonly takes two others to tend the machine who aid in raking off and taking care of the straw. But, on account of the lenght [[sp]] of my brothers Barn and his piling the straw away farther and putting it up into a shed (it took more help, and my Brother Charles W. Rich, my little Brother [[?]] Eliab W. Metcalf and myself were very busily employed.
My Business was raking off straw, while the machine was in motion and pitching it up into the yard shed, between spills. This, as I have said was my employment for two days M[[?]]
It is rather dirty, hard work on some accounts; the machine works so continual fast, which is rather disagreeable, especially at first. Sometimes, especially in threshing smutty grain, it is so dusty that one can hardly see the length of the floor, at all.

Wednesday Dec. 11th
I went to get my jacket made up by a Mrs. Doe up in the "Hobbs Neighborhood" beyond Sebec Stream
I went affot [[sp]], it was very bad walking but would have been worse riding. Got back about 1 oclock or so. P.M. engaged in pitching new straw in the Barn yard &c &c Chores and puttering

Thursday Dec. 12th
Snow storm, turned to rain and all went off again. Puttering and so forth round the house
Went up to Mr. Lees with a horse and sleig [[sp]], after Ann, 3 or 4 inches snow all i[[?]] off through
Puttering
