User-Contributed Transcription Sunday Feb. 14 1897, bright + clear warm, thawing much Mr. Cadmus' first Sunday. He is our valentine. Church very full. beautiful flowers, roses, callas, etc. Choir sang "Brightest + best of the sons of the morning" Text Rom 8:17 "If so be that we suffer with him that we may be also glorified with him" Had 9 boys in S.S. Cadmus made splendid talk to S.S. Lake Ave. 16 present no organist. Gates MG. led jail mtg for me. Annual Mtg C.E. Union. I was elected Pres. Eve. Sermon. I Cor 2:2. good Trio. Protect us through coming night.Mon. Feb. 15 thawing A.M. took butter to Lizzie DeWitt. Then up to Geo. Rich's to cut ice. cut from Geo's pond in A.M. and from river P.M. Eve. Pers. wk class. Marion led. Baptists + Methodists have had revival since wk of prayTues. 16 thawed much, sunshine Cutting ice. Geo's to dinner. F Freeman, Walter Hadaway + I worked at river, Geo. hauled. Will Jerome and Mr. Walters packed. Ice very rotten in P.M. Eve. Henry Watterson's lecture on Abraham Lincoln.
